Reversals explained

Some of you may notice the high occurrence of reversals in your account.  This is due to the fact that we are merchants of 3 popular pay-per-performance companies:  linkshare, cj and shareAsale.  Yes, that is a lot to manage.  As a result, you may imagine that more than one affiliate tracking code will kick in and duplicate commissions arise.

So at the end of each month, I compare the 3 program’s trans dates right down to the second and I grant the winning commission to the last hop.

This is what happens:

1. Sally searches for bonsai trees and clicks on site A, a cj.com affiliate.  CJ Tracking code kicks in when she clicks the link to bonsaiboy, but then she doesn’t like that particular tree, so clicks away

2. Sally continues browsing the net until she stumbles upon site B, a ShareASale affiliate.  ShareASale tracking code kicks in when she clicks the link to bonsaiboy.  But the phone rings, and she closes her browser.

3.  But she loves bonsai trees and is determined to find her treasure, so the next day, she stumbles upon a 3rd site C, a Linkshare affiliate, and clicks to Bonsai Boy to finally make her purchase. Linkshare tracking enabled.

So since all the 3 tracking coookies were enabled, all 3 sales are recorded.  But after we analyze the transactions dates, Affiliate site A,B get reversals and Affiliate site C, will keep the commission.
